Style and Uniform
From Reverend GM Messiter's "Reminiscences of Repton" & AHJ Cochrane's "Repton Cricket 1866 - 1905":
In 1856 Repton boys wore scarlet caps in 'Foreign' matches.
In 1859 a more distinctive uniform for the 1st XI was devised.
The uniform consisted of a white flannel coat trimmed with magenta ribbon, a cap to match and a magenta silk sash. The captain of the XI was distinguished by wearing a dark blue cap and coat, and a special belt.
The belt was presented by Mrs Pears, and bore a silver plate, on which the names of successive captains were engraved.

The custom of wearing a blue coat and cap was given up by Lionel Ford, when he was captain in 1884. About the same date those players who were Caps of Honour carried the School shield on the coat pocket.
In 1889 a sweeping revolution in the School colours was carried out and the present tasteful uniform became the standard. The 1889 team had three great cricketers in the team, LCH Palairet, CB Fry and RCN Palairet.
The 1904 team shows the 1st XI in consistent attire in blue blazers and yellow braiding, white trousers and boots. The captain, RA Young, was in his final year in the team and scored 1888 runs in his four years.
